The Ellington Fellowship Playhouse is a non-profit 501c3 organization...in other words, if you don't come, we go broke! That's why we rely on show sponsors and donors to keep the music flowing. We are run solely by our volunteer board, there are no paid positions. Our shows are also staffed with volunteers. We do, however, pay our bartenders, Jimmy and Carolyn, but not enough, so keep those tips coming! (They asked us to say that!) Our expenses also include the bands (no, they don't play for free just because we're a non-profit), printing and postage, licensing costs, and all the other things that come with putting on dinners and shows as well as supporting outreach projects such as MusicBridge.

If you think The Ellington makes a valuable contribution to Central Virginia's cultural life then show it with your support. We are continuously seeking private donations and corporate sponsorships and depend on monies awarded from grants from future fundraising events. Back in the day, this task was made easier by support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. But, as everyone knows, funding for the arts in Virginia has all but dried up. Keeping our programming going has become a perpetual struggle. While ticket sales and bar receipts help cover our expenses, one or two less than successful shows can have a crippling effect on our budget. That's why we need the support of area businesses and individuals to keep the doors open.

One of the most important and easiest ways to help is to spread the word. Tell other people how great Ellington is: the music, food, and fun. Better yet, bring a friend who has never been here to the next show. Want an easier way to help, how about sending a link to our web page to a dozen or so folks in your address book? They'll thank you for it!

As an individual sponsor you will receive the following

$35 supporter: your name goes on our thank you list, and we DO thank you!
    $50 supporter: 1 free admission
    $100 patron: 2 free admissions
$250 silver patron: 1 free admission to all season performances
$500 gold patron: 2 free admissions to all season performances.

Please mail or drop off your contributions to the Ellington at 421 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24504 and we will send you your free tickets. (In the future, we hope to make it possible for you to contribute online. Please check the news section of our site for updates.) And you can get a tax break, too...your contribution in excess of ticket value, is tax deductible.

    Corporate Sponsors

We are also very grateful to our corporate sponsors who help underwrite each of our Saturday evening shows. Because of their support we are able to offer a wider variety of music than a venue that is totally dependent on ticket sales for revenue. Our past season corporate sponsors have included:

    Atlantic Precision Rubber
    James Burruss
    Bowen Jewelry
    Brown Edwards
    Coleman Adams
    Jimmy & Laurel Feinman
    Hamilton's Shoe Salon
    John Stewart Walker
    Lynchburg Restoration
    McBratney Sisson
    Montague Betts
    Schewel Furniture
    Scott Insurance
    Southern Air
    SunTrust Bank
    Taylor Brothers
    Wachovia Bank
    Watts Petroleum

If your company is interested in learning more about becoming a corporate sponsor, please e-mail sponsor@theellington.org

A special thanks to our media partners

What would we be without publicity? You've probably heard about us through features The News and Advance, watched for ticket giveaways on WSET-TV's Good Morning Virginia or heard show announcements on VIBE 100. And we couldn't be more grateful for their help in getting the word out, so here‘s a little plug for them: read them, watch them, listen to them. Please.
